How to Upload a Onenote to D2l

OneNote Class Notebook is an External Learning Tool that allows for collaboration and sharing of materials and assignments through OneNote. Using OneNote Class Notebook, instructors can provide readings and handouts, assign activities, access student work, and facilitate asynchronous collaboration between students (see Collaborate through a Course Notebook). OneNote Grade Notebook can be accessed online or through Microsoft Office. For instructions on how to download Microsoft Office, encounter the information on Office 365 Education Plus for DePaul.

Add OneNote Class Notebook to a D2L Course

To provide students with an admission point for OneNote Class Notebook, add a link to the grade in D2L.

  1. Become to the grade to which to add OneNote Class Notebook.
  2. Select Content from the course navigation bar.
  3. Navigate to the module to which to add the Form Notebook.
  4. Select Existing Activities.
  5. Select External Learning Tools.
  6. Select OneNote Class Notebook.
  7. A link volition be created within the module.

Set up OneNote Class Notebook

The process for setting up OneNote Class Notebook involves creating sections, populating content, and calculation students.

  1. Select the OneNote Class Notebook link.
  2. If a login screen appears, select Sign in to OneNote and log in using DePaul credentials.
  3. A screen will open with the proper noun of the grade populated in a text box. Edit the proper name of the course or select Side by side.
  4. The next screen will show three sections for the Grade Notebook:
    • Collaboration Space : This is where students and teachers tin work together
    • Content Library : This section is for instructors to post materials
    • Pupil Notebooks : This section is what students use individually.
  5. Afterwards reviewing these sections, select Next.
  6. (Optional) Add a permissions for a didactics assistant by inbound an e-mail address when prompted. Select Next once the email is entered or to skip this screen.
  7. (Optional) I way to add students to the Course Notebook is the setting "Automatically add students from your LMS as they access this notebook". If this selection is selected,  students will be added to the Class Notebook equally they admission it.

    Annotation: If students should be populated in the Form Notebook prior to accessing it (for example, if using pre-formed groups), students should be added manually. Run into Adding Students to a OneNote Class Notebook for instructions.

  8. Select Next.
  9. Use the next screen to customize what students will have in their individual notebooks. Select + Add Section to add to the notebook or select the ten next to a section to delete it.
  10. Once finished customizing, select Adjacent.
  11. A page volition open up with previews of the Teacher's notebook and Student'southward notebook. Review these and select Create.
  12. A processing screen volition appear. Once the Form Notebook has been created, a page will announced with links to open the Notebook and to share with students.

Add Students to OneNote Class Notebook

If students should be added to the Form Notebook earlier they access it (e.k. for group work), they will need to be added manually.

  1. Select the OneNote Class Notebook link.
  2. Select Add or remove students.
  3. Search for a student or enter a DePaul email in the "Add new students" text box.
  4. Once found, select the student.
  5. Continue adding students. When finished, select Next.
  6. A confirmation screen will open. Select Update.
  7. Students will receive an email from "Sharepoint App" with a link to access the Class Notebook.

Add together Materials to OneNote Course Notebook

Materials like readings, graphs, handouts, and homework assignments tin be created and distributed within OneNote Class Notebook. Instructors can create new pages within the notebook or insert previously-created materials.

  1. From the class homepage in OneNote, select Content Library [A].
  2. Select the tab under the heading [B].

  3. Select Add Folio.
  4. On the blank page that opens, enter a championship for the folio above the date.
  5. Enter the content of the page. Questions can exist typed direct onto the page, copied and pasted from an outside certificate, or inserted. Images can also exist inserted. (See the OneNote documentation for more details almost populating content.)
  6. When finished creating the folio, select Class Notebook from the meridian navigation bar.
  7. Select Distribute Page.
  8. A dropdown menu volition appear:
    • Select Distribute Page to distribute the folio to all students.
    • Select Private Distribution to distribute the page to select student(due south).
    • Select Group Distribution to distribute page to split up groups.

      Annotation: To create groups, afterward selecting Group Distribution, select + New Group in the window that opens. Then, choose the students for the grouping using the checkboxes and select Salvage.

  9. From the sidebar that appears, select the section of the notebook to which the page should be distributed.
  10. Select Distribute.

Collaborate Through a Course Notebook

In OneNote Class Notebook, instructors can fix collaborative activities, where students can add to documents with the whole class or within small groups.

  1. From the course homepage in the Class Notebook, select Collaboration Space [A].
  2. Select the tab under the heading [B].

  3. Select Add  Page.
  4. On the blank page that opens, enter a proper noun for the page above the appointment. This will be the championship that students see.

      Note: To create groups, after selecting Group Distribution, select + New Group in the window that opens. And then, choose the students for the group using the checkboxes and select Save.

  8. From the sidebar that appears, select the section of the notebook to which the page should be distributed.
  9. Select Distribute.

Lock a Collaborative Page

Instructors can lock a folio to prevent students from further editing or annotating a collaborative area.

  1. Select Class Notebook from the top navigation bar in OneNote.
  2. Select the notebook icon (web) or Manage Notebooks (OneNote app).
  3. Under the heading "Lock Collaboration Space" toggle the button to lock the Collaboration Space.

Review Student Piece of work

When students put their piece of work in their private Grade Notebooks, that work is accessible to instructors. Instructors can comment submissions as well as add audio feedback and images.

  1. From the grade homepage in OneNote Class Notebook, select Course Notebook from the summit navigation bar.
  2. Select Review Pupil Work.
  3. From the bill of fare that opens, select the section nether which the assignment is housed.
  4. Select Adjacent.
  5. Select the page to review.
  6. Select Next.
  7. Select the name of the student to review.
  8. When the submission opens, select Depict from the top navigation bar.

    • Select the eraser icon to erase annotations [B].
    • Select the pencil icon to draw on the submission [C].
    • Select the highlighter icon to highlight sections of the submission [D].

  10. When finished annotating, choose the next student. Feedback will sync automatically.
